What We Believe

Reading through the Bible

is a rewarding experience, and these plans can help you do it!

At Price Hill Church of Christ, our faith narrative is deeply woven with the teachings and life of Jesus Christ, guided by the profound and enduring commandment to love one another as He has loved us. This command, articulated in John 13:34, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another,” is the cornerstone of our discipleship and validates our love for God and our authority as a New Testament church.

Rooted in scripture, our core belief is that salvation is made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. As stated in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This scripture not only underscores His divine love but also emphasizes the mechanism of our salvation—faith in Jesus Christ.

Our adherence to the Bible as the inspired, infallible word of God shapes every aspect of our faith and practice. As 2 Timothy 3:16-17 assures us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” This passage confirms our belief in the Bible as our all-sufficient guide.

The Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is central to our understanding of God. Each person of the Trinity is equally divine, which is beautifully encapsulated in Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Our belief in the creation story as described in Genesis, the nature of Satan as the enemy of righteousness (Revelation 20:10), and the sinless humanity and deity of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:22 and John 1:1), further define our doctrinal stance.

The Holy Spirit’s role within the church is critical. Acts 1:8 tells us, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” This underscores His role in empowering and guiding the church in its mission.

At Price Hill Church of Christ, we also uphold the scriptural practices of baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as essential expressions of our faith. Baptism is a public declaration of a believer’s faith in Christ and his death, burial, and resurrection, symbolized through immersion in water as stated in Romans 6:4, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Our church is more than just a place of worship; it is a community bound by these truths and committed to living out the gospel. As an independent, self-governing body, we strive to embody the teachings of Christ in all aspects of our ministry and fellowship, ensuring that our faith impacts every facet of our lives. Each believer at Price Hill Church of Christ is encouraged to grow in their faith and to contribute to the church’s mission, carrying forward the message of Christ’s love and salvation to the world.
